What's the deal with Bikram?

Bikram Yoga has become a trend after a number of celebrities swore by it as an amazing weight loss tool. Intrigued by the bikram places that seemed to be popping up everywhere and great testimonials online, I signed up for a 2 week pass at a local studio that described itself as dynamic and beginner friendly.
The first time I rocked up in a t-shirt and shorts, as I usually would at the gym, but once I entered the classroom and saw girls in bikinis I realised I had made a big mistake. If you're going to do yoga in 38.5 degree heat you want to be wearing as little as possible without throwing your decency out of the window. The water bottle I bought along quickly reached room temperature and after 1.5 hours of 26 yoga poses I felt cooked. My whole body was aching, but my skin felt amazing. After a day of rest I could see why people loved bikram so much - it's like a detox and workout in one.
I attended two further classes I enjoyed partaking in, but the forth class turned me off bikram for the foreseeable future. Maybe it's just me, but I am more likely to go to a class if I like the teacher and I'd rather skip a workout than go to a class taught by an instructor I don't like... Said instructor kept pushing people past their comfort zones- which is good in some cases- but her adjustments were borderline inappropriate, she sounded more like a hooligan than  a yoga instructor and even made me cry with her mean remarks. So I threw the towel. Can you recommend a Bikram Yoga studio in Melbourne with kind, gentle teachers?
